BeaFanatIX comes with a very powerful tool to handle hard drives and partitions: Gparted. This section will give you a brief introduction to using Gparted. However, for any more detailed information, refer to the Gparted online documentation.
- You'll find Gparted in the Applications -> System Tools menu. After starting it, you'll get a detailed view of your system's partitions:

Gparted showing all of your available partitions.
Note: This is how a standard GNU/Linux system might look - your view may differ greatly!
- First, you'll have to make some room for BFX; you can either resize a partition (like in the picture below) or delete some existing ones to be able to create a new one:

- When you've got room for partitions, create one; you'll either need one (for BFX's file system) or two if your system doesn't have a swap partition; BFX will hardly ever need more than 2GB of room, the swap drive can take another 512MB. In any case, 4GB will be plenty:

Creating a 4GB ext3 partition
You'll have different options for file systems to use, we recommend ext3 for the file system. Also, you'll want to make this partition bootable (not shown in the screenshot).
- When you've prepared everything to your liking, you're ready to go; click on Apply and let Gparted have its way:

Gparted ready to create your partition!
Note: Should the version of Gparted you find on BFX at any point in time not satisfy your needs, try using Gparted LiveCD - a live CD solely for the use of the most recent version of Gparted.
Be warned! This procedure can result in the complete deletion of your previous system (if any) - please choose your options carefully and rather ask before you act! The BeaFanatIX team is not responsible for any loss of data or other consequences of your use of Gparted!
