Setting up the network

In contrast to the live CD, the hard drive installation boot process doesn't automatically configure your network connection; after you've set it up manually, however, the connection will always be available straight after booting the system.

Usually (and for wired connections: always) the network setup tool will be all you need to use once.

If you're using WLAN (WiFi, wireless networking), sometimes you might need to use other tools in addition to the network setup tool:

• the WLAN setup script;
• a way to set up WPA (TODO).

Once you have a network connection, you will want to configure your firewall to protect your computer.
